1. find your meter

2. close all flowing water sources, E.G. faucets, spigots, showerheads, toilets, hot water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and autofill pools and hot tubs

3. check your meter to see if the dial is turning. If it is, make sure all water sources are shut off again and check the meter again. If its still running there is a very good chance you have a leak

4. If the meter has stopped and your water usage is higher than you expect it to be it's possible that one of the water sources (especially toilets) is causing your high usage
